A2 Frame Size in Centimeters

An A2 frame measures 42x59.4 cm. This is twice the size of A3, so an A2 frame creates a strong visual accent in a space. When preparing your artwork, measure the actual size down to the millimeter—this is especially important when ordering a mat. The frame can be placed vertically or horizontally—mounts are installed for both orientations.

What A2 Frames Are Used For?

  • A2 photo frames — large portrait and landscape photographs.
  • A2 poster frames — decorative prints and large-format illustrations.
  • A2 advertising frames — posters, announcements, and informational materials for business.
  • A2 picture frames — artworks and reproductions.
  • A2 diploma frames — large-format certificates and awards.

Glass, Acrylic or Plastik for an A2 Frame?

For large formats, choosing the right protective cover is important. Standard glass offers maximum clarity and is scratch-resistant, but it is heavier. Acrylic is lightweight and safe, does not shatter, and is available with UV protection. PET plastic is the lightest option, shatterproof, and suitable for very large formats and public spaces with heavy foot traffic. Anti-reflective glass reduces glare but may appear slightly hazy at certain angles. Museum glass provides minimal glare and maximum UV protection—a premium option for valuable works.

Aluminum A2 Frame

For large formats, aluminum is the most practical choice. An A2 aluminum frame has a slim profile and provides maximum rigidity with minimal weight—it does not deform over time and is resistant to moisture. Wooden A2 frames are also available—they offer a warm texture and a wide range of finishes, but it is important to choose profiles with sufficient rigidity for large formats.

Mat for an A2 Frame

A mat is a cardboard insert between the image and the glass that creates visual spacing and enhances the composition. The mat window is made 2–3 mm smaller than the image so it stays securely in place. For an A2 frame, the typical mat border width is 40–70 mm. Available options include white, black, velvet, and metallic mats, as well as custom-made mats.

Production and Delivery

A2 frames with glass are assembled by hand—the artwork is secured with a backing board, clips, and dust-protection tape around the perimeter. If needed, spacers are installed to create a gap between the image and the glass. Pickup is available from the workshop in Kyiv, or delivery via Nova Poshta across Ukraine—packaging and hardware are checked before shipping.
